about charity

Charity Self is Principal of Clarte' Consulting and Solutions LLC which she launched in the Fall of 2012.  As Principal of Clarte' Consulting, Ms. Self brings tri-sector leadership and strengths through private sector consulting for almost ten years combined with federal government experience, and various roles and responsibilities in the non-profit sector, including strategic thinking, strategic analysis, and consulting.  Charity is also certified to administer TRACOM's Social Styles and facilitate Social Styles workshops.  Social Styles is the world's leading behavioral model.  Participants in the Social Styles workshop typically praise its insightfulness regarding how they are perceived by others as well as by providing insightfulness into their work colleagues which helps them better work as a team and communicate with one another.

Charity completed her undergraduate studies at Elon University in North Carolina and graduate studies at Baylor University, in Texas.  Charity's love of research began during her academic career when she completed several research projects, including ethnography-based studies, and presented research at two different undergraduate research forums.  She continued her research in graduate school traveling to Belize and Guatemala to complete research on eco-tourism and sustainable farming practices.

After completing her academic work, Charity moved into public relations on Capitol Hill, working on a variety of topics, including women's issues, EMILY's List, and immigration and refugee issues.  She left the public sector and entered  private industry consulting in 1999, conducting a variety of market research initiatives for Fortune 1000 clients as well as tackling workforce management issues, including salesforce reorganization and compensation, strategic planning, and facilitating strategy sessions.  This work included the pharmaceutical, biotech, financial services, and construction industries.

In 2007, after the company she was working for had been bought and sold twice, she left private consulting and went to work for AARP as a strategy analyst, working on healthcare policy.  She left this position in 2008, moving to NPCA's Center for Park Management (CPM) where she took on a major change initiative in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS), working primarily on workforce management issues.

Charity's passion is change management and organization development issues.    She greatly enjoys helping organizations and companies become better than they are today, prepare for tomorrow's challenges, and develop and fully utilize the talent within their organizations.

Strategic management consists of the analysis, decisions, actions, and people of an organization which propel it, usually toward objectives and goals.

In the current business environment, organizations also need to think about the overarching value of sustainability - for themselves and the environment in which they function.

We're here to help you think about your goals - and then accomplish them through partnerships, utilization of human resources, conflict management, team work, and employee development.
